Sorenson Squeeze 11 has the capability of creating a directory with files that can be directly dragged into the
E:\Avid MediaFiles\MXF\1 folder, this means that you can prepare files for import outside of MC - cool - right ?
Well almost. The problem is that sometimes it doesn't work, when you try to play a clip that was imported this way you get an error "PMM_INSUFFICIENT_MEDIA() Player Version of frame duration is longer than actual [7464] (7464)
When I examine the media files and clip in the media tool I see that the clip duration is one frame larger than the media duration - so I can understand the error.
The big problem is that when I approached Sorenson, they said that my version of MC is old (true) and they don't support it. I gave them access to the files and asked them to try it on whatever version of Avid they test on - but for some reason, they ignore my request and give me a link to Avid support.
So now I'd like your help
Can someone please spend a couple of minutes doing this in the V8 and tell me if they have the same problem ?
1) Copy the files from the link below into an empty folder e.g. \Avid MediaFiles\MXF\9999 (203MB)
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/iuvotpf0cv9c2bo/AACSWhYwxHTQf9NaNI9xdySCa?dl=0
2) Open Avid, and then open Tool/Media tool select the drive where you put the mxf files and "current project"
3) In mediatool you will see 4 files that start with 201604041. Double click the clip file 20160404141024_DNxHD_185 and see if it will playback or if you get an error PMM_INSUFFICIENT_MEDIA....
4) Another thing you can check is to see if the values of the "Duration" column. In my case the 3 media clips have a duration of 9:03, and the clip has a duration of 9:04 (one frame off)
5) Delete the files you added in \Avid MediaFiles\MXF\9999
6) just in case - If you have any problem with Avid after this then you should delete the msmFMID.pmr and msmMMOB.mdb in all the MXF directories and restart Avid
7) tell us what happens
Many Thanks

Let me ask a different question
Is anyone using squeeze to generate MXF files ?
Does it always work, or has anyone seen the problems I've described below ?
I encountered the same problem when transcoding AVCHD clips to DNxHD. The video ended up being a frame longer than the same clip imported into Avid, and the audio didn't quite match. Consequently, I don't use Sorenson Squeeze anymore for creating rapid-ingesting Avid media. Instead I use ClipToolz Convert (version 2, which is free). It's much faster, has a filter for deinterlacing, and preserves timecodes and reelnames. HD Cinematics just released Convert V3, which has a stabilizer module, direct Blu-ray burning, and 4K support, among many other features. It can even convert 5.1 channels from stereo. Not bad for a $49 program that is Windows 10 compatible:

Hello,I tested clip in MC8.4.2. Is playing ok. Only the last two frames shows "Media Offline".9:04 clip length.V.
Hi, tested on 8.5.3, Avid scans the media files and quarantines two files out of four, the clip shows up un the media tool as video offline, two channels of audio, duration is reported as 9:04. Switch Media Player refuses to play the files.

Hi,
Same here : tested on 8.5.3
Import AAF => only 20160404141024_DNxHD_185
track V1 A1-2
Start 00:00:00:00
Duration 9:04
audio 48000
Last 2 frames are offline
- double click on clip send to source viewer and create an empty TL Untitled Sequence.01
Insert button
Same result :
V1 videoA1/A2 audio channel but no sound
Test with Davindi Resolve : same results.
1 video 201604041V01C1E0D997.mxf
2 audio channel A1 and A2 are -50db
A1=201604041V01C1E0D998.mxf
A2=201604041V01C1E0D999.mxf
jcfrance: I use Squeeze + MXF plugin from the V9 and I never had a problem

Same for me but with Squeeze Pro 11 , maybe it´s the source media , have you tried with other media , pick a short one to make sure that the issue not is related to spanned clips

This is only a 9 second clip. Creating a .mov in squeeze worked fine.
It happens on about 50 % of my (Canon) .mte files.
I reckon it's a bug in squeeze and that different versions of MC have different ways of dealing with it.
I got someone in in Sorenson QC to check it out, the reply was 'I did notice the slight discrepancy between the length of the audio and video files, but that is expected when encoding, and isn't affecting performance. That t/100 second difference isn't enough to make the file import invalid. "
I suppose that's a matter of opinion, I would expect both the audio and the video to round down to a common duration. The way it forces me to clip the length - or in my V5 MC - not to use MXF creation.
You told that you used the media tool to bring the files in separately , what happens if you instead import the aaf that Squeeze creates to bring the media in as a clip
Does anyone know if there is something like the HDCinematics converter for Mac? Having a tough time figuring out a converter that can create DNxHD .mxf files on Mac. Thanks.
I use Squeeze to MXF here and there. not with Canon media though. Did you try background Link/Transcoding within MC?

I don't know if this will help but video toolshed is a great resource
https://www.videotoolshed.com/product/avid-mxf-creator/
not for sale but demo version seems full featured.. or ask there for MAC-based ideas?
