ISIS 5500 Client for Archiving to LTO 7?

I posted a similar question in MC forum. It seems more suited here.

We are currently buying many hard drives to archive our older projects and clear space on the ISIS 5500. I understand their risks, so I've acquired an LTO 7 mLogic mTape drive and want to connect it through an ISIS client workstation to run scheduled archives at night.

I don't wish to risk any integrity problems with the ISIS. Is it better to have have our editors move projects to a connected NAS drive, then run the archive procedure with LTO 7 from there?

We are starting our library database from scratch. Software recommendations have been YoYottaLTFS and PrerollPost from Imagine Software. I think both have Checksum or other file copy confirmation, search features, etc.

    Experiences? Recommendations? Warnings?

I'd strongly suggest a staging area for Archive and recovery. Its much less messy to move content off and then manage the archive (and later recovery) to that location than try and do it live on the ISIS.

I used to use StorageDNA as a one stop solution. Worked well.
