    Sorenson Squeeze Error

Using standard 'Send To" option from Xpresss Pro to Avid Studio/Encoding for AVID DVD by Sonic and then starting the 'squeeze' process in Sorenson Squeeze for DVD PAL (Small or large) I get the following error after the Squeeze timeline reaches about 60% complete:

"The movie file "" could not be found. Without this file, the movie cannot play properly"

I am also getting a MetaSync Publisher error that says:

"Error(s) were encountered while processing the specifies AAF file(s). View log for details"

The log (mentioned above) indicates an error opening the aaf file for the project.

When I cancel the first error mesage in Sorenson I then get another error saying:

There was a compression srror while compressing the file <filename>..Error:0x8003001e

I have updated the MetaSync Manager and MetaSync publisher to the latest version.

This has only occurred since installing the download version of Xpress Pro v5.2.4. I do not have the 5.2.4 install DVD with the new DVD creation software (still on AVID DVD by Sonic)) but I don't think that is the issue as I don't get even past Sorenson.

Any ideas would be warmly welcomed.

    Thanks.

    Re: Sorenson Squeeze Error

I contacted Sorenson about this error and they confirmed that they are having problem with Quicktime Reference files from Avid.  The suggested installing Quicktime 6.5.1.  That did not fix my problem, but I discovered a work-around, changing the field order to bottom field first allowed me to get past the error.  This is odd because the footage that caused the issue was progressive (24p).  I'm hoping that Sorenson has a fix in their next release.

    Good Luck!

    Re: Sorenson Squeeze Error

    Hi,

I had exactly the same problems !  Avid support was totally lost and unable to help Embarrassed [:$].

Here are the steps I took, they are probably not all necessary, but at least the problem does not exist anymore.

    1. Obtain the 5.2.1 complete upgrade disk (not the downloaded version).
    2. Uninstall Avid Xpress Studio completly.
    3. Reboot
    4. Delete manually the Avid installation directory
      • Normally C:\Program Files\Avid
    5. Defragment drives (notably your system drive and the drive(s) where you store your working files.)
    6. Reboot
    7. Disable and remove from the taskbar tray any utility program which could in anyway interfere with Avid
      • Audio utility programs (eg Creative)
      • Video managers (eg : Intervideo WinDVD)
      • Any Chat tools like MSN messenger
      • Quicktime
      • Acrobat
      • etc
    8. Now install 5.2.1 using all the default settings.
    9. Do not install 5.2.4  This is not for studio

I hope that this will help.

    Re: Sorenson Squeeze Error

I was getting the same error and here's what Sorenson said:

This problem is an issue that is happening with Squeeze 4.3 and QuickTime 7.*. There are 2 solutions. The easiest is to import the mov reference file into squeeze and use the link audio function in Squeeze to manually attach the aiff audio file. (I added a screen shot showing where to get to the link audio option.)Once you have added the source file to the batch area right click on the file and select link audio.

Then search for the aiff file and select it.

If that does not work the other solution is to downgrade your copy of QuickTime to 6.5.1. To do that download the 6.5.1 installer from the apple website. Then uninstall QuickTime 7 and install 6.5.1.

    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime651.html

We will have an update out later this month that should resolve this issue.

Idea [I] Re: Sorenson Squeeze Error

    Hi all,

Sorry, but I omitted to mention that I ensured that the version of Quicktime is 7.0.3.50.
The version of Squeeze (which is working) is 4.2.301.6.

    Re: Sorenson Squeeze Error

Well, many thanks to Johnnytex! The tip of manually linking the AIF file worked a treat.

WRT the comments later in the thread that v5.2.4 is not cleared for Studio use, this is not the case. If you visit the download page for 5.2.4 it clearly states that it is compatable with Studio and I have not encountered any Studio integration issues with it so far (clearly the other bugs remain). The Sorenson issue is, I believe, exactly that and not related to 5.2.4 as I tried going back to 5.2.1 and the problem remained.

Again thank you all for the input. The forum saves the day again!

    Re: Sorenson Squeeze Error

Everything was working fine ... now I keep getting the error message as Sorenson Squeeze encoded the QT ref clips for DVD.

"The movie file ' " ' cannot be found. Without this file the movie cannot play properly"

So what is this movie file ' " ' ????  I have no such file.

At first it did not seem to be a major problem but then I discovered the encoded video files, when I imported them into Avid DVD were a max of approx. 22 min  ... is there a size limit?

now they wont import at all - message says "unrecognised file". And my last attempt at encoding with Sorenson has led to a shutdown of the software. problem seems to be getting worse and worse as I keep trying.

I have read previous posts on this error (from last year) - am assuming the fix has been implemented wrt to the Quicktime 7 incompatibility ... we have QT 7.0.2 currently running.

Are there any other recent upgrades that might cause issues that anyone might know about? Our computer admin persons remotely and automatically update our production computers with all sorts of things despite the fact that I have asked them to check with me first ... :(

    kind regards
    Triny
