Im stuck on 8.4.2 and realise no longer entitled to support as didnt renew my perpetual licence.

However is there a simple fix or should I go back to 8.3? 

Im only doing basic vids as hobbyist, but would be nice to do some titles.

You'll have to go back to 8.3.1 or 8.2.x (not sure which patch you'll be able to use with your support contract).

Avid has fixed it in 8.5 so I would expect it to be fixed in the next 8.4.7 patch but with your expired contract that wil not run either.
