Updated to QT 7.7.8 today. QT Player won't detect an update available and downloading the Apple Windows 7.7.8 version fails with an unsupported OS warning.
The TommyNation.com steps (alternate option 2 I used) worked fine and I now have V7.7.8 installed.
I'd guess Apple is trying to close the door to QT support for Windows 10. It's pretty clear QT is due to be phased out and it would make sense to kill on windows first...

Actually - mine is an AMA export to mxf that was understood by Squeeze 10 pro before I updated to Windows 10 - no QT involved
Squeeze just can't read the file now
i might try another AMA export to mxf with 8.4.1 and Windows 10 since the mxf I just tried was created by mc 8.3.1 under Windows 7 - you never know

I tried creating a new MXF AMA Export - still could not be read by Squeeze 10 Pro - The MXF can be AMA linked back to MC and played perfectly so I think the problem is with Squeeze 10 Pro under Windows 10.
Of course, I can trancode my sequence and export to QT Ref which is then understood by Squeeze 10 Pro without issue so I have a perfectly reasonable alternate workflow. Just thought that it was curious about the MXF....
Cheers
I don´t trust customized workflows myself Steve, did I hear someone say , if it ain´t broke ... and levels are very important for me.
So Qt refs or SAS exports it is for me.
Tomas
I'm no so interested in the workflow - just that the MXF export from MC can no longer be read by Squeeze and that change is unexpected.

Hello Pat
When QT is gone what will replace it, my understanding is that Avid loves QT..
(MC 8.4 .xxx on Windows 7 ) I was running on W10 but abandoned it for now,
are you referring to W10 only, I export into Squeeze10 with Quick Time ..
are we talking about W10 Systems only.
I did a fresh install of Windows 10 on my laptop recently, and noticed that while a manual Quicktime install failed, running Apple Software Update after iTunes was installed actually worked. Quicktime 7.7.6 was listed as an option and Apple Software Update installed it fine. No need for the tricksy hack.
installed win 10 in the bedroom 2 weeks ago.
had nothing but problems there since.
Yes, but how is the Windows 10 installation?

I check the MS website and there is no bedroom support for windows 10 yet. Front room and dining room support is available but not bedroom.
Hey AVID stuff? Why MC isn't compatibile with Win 10? One Year was gone and what? Some cosmetics updates? Sorry. Are you waiting for Next New Year? Congrat for great sens of humor.

As a Windows 10 user I can tell you you don;t want to be using it for MC until MS get it to work correctly.
There are some serious under the hood issues still being worked out. The MS insider programme has many fixes still being tested and they will come out soon.
Do a search for rigth click context menu disappearing and you will see how a number of OS functions are killing the system resources.
So when MS have WIndows 10 stable enough to work reliably I'd hope Avid start looking at MC support. But not before.
Keeping this at the top...
