    DaVinci Resolve 12 beta 1

    Check it out here

looks like they've raised the bar once again with an improved 3D tracker, 3D keyer, Multicam, audio editing tools export to protools and a host of improvements to their editing capabilities. They've even added some new CC and grading improvements - go figure ;-)

As with Fusion, BMD now uses the term 'Studio' in the product name for the paid-for version. The free version looks pretty impressive, though.

(Notice that minimum requirements for PC is Windows 8.1 - I wonder if the installer prevents installing on Windows 7 Pro?)

Re: DaVinci Resolve 12 beta 1

I have it installed in Win 7 ultimate without issue (aside from a few bugs with Resolve) - works great!

It will be interesting to watch peoples reaction to this. Will the extensive changes in the UI be more than offset by the great range of feature improvements?

It certainly did not feel worth it for the first couple of hours yesterday. Eventually, for me, the probable time saving and improved efficiencies (when I explored the way the changes where designed to be used rather than folllowing my intuative impulses) started to show it could be worth taking some time to relearn some of the basics in the near future.

Steve it installed and works fine here on W7 Pro with SP1

Did you download the Lite version installer or the Studio Version installer?  (on my W7 install here I am running the Lite version.) If you install the Studio version it will not run (and will give you the Studio Licence message) unless you have the Resolve Dongle plugged in.

Re: DaVinci Resolve 12 beta 1

Hello Andrew , the Studio Version Installer..

that's right I have the Studio Licence message..

I was running the Lite Version with W7 with a GeForce GTX 760 card, limited success, I only had the 2Gb MSI  version.

I will wait for W10 full version ,and a Graphics upgrade maybe, try again and see how that goes..

    thanks

Re: DaVinci Resolve 12 beta 1

I contacted BMD customer support, re: Resolve 12 specced at Win 8 or above. Their reply was that, while they tested Resolve 12 only on Win 8, they fully expect it to work on Win 7. I've installed on Win 7 Pro; and, it works fine.
