Hello,
what nvidia driver should I install to use MC and Resolve on the same computer?
The problem is, the Quadro driver doesn't recognize the Titans...
regards
D
Why do you have both installed? Are you using the Quadro just for the Avid or as GUI for Resolve? I find there's very little difference between my home system which has a GTX card in it and the Quadros I use at work.
Why don't you do some tests in Avid with just the Titans installed and see how it compares with just the Quadro, then let us know how they went. I have a hunch you'll barely notice any difference at all but I'd be interested to know because the Quadros are so much more expensive and I just don't think they're worth it...
However if you're on a full Resolve system then taking out the Quadro will impact your performance in Resolve won't it? As presumably you have the monitors connected to the Quadro not the Titans and Resolve will use the Quadro for the GUI.
Sorry I have no answer to your question, it just sparked some thoughts I've been having about Avid's use of GPUs recently! Hopefully someone else will chime in with an answer...

Hi,
yes - I want to use the Quadro for Avid AND for Davinci Resolve as GUI.
Additional to boost Resolve I installed 2x Titan X as GPU....
I have a K2000 and GTX780 SC and like you I am using Resolve and Avid 8.4. I am using the Geforce 340.52 drivers without issue. I haven't really tried going any higher in drivers though....
Today I upgraded to MC 8.4 and installed the Geforce 353.30 driver because of the Titans.
voilà, it works without issues.
Very cool! Thank you!!
I upgraded to 353.30 after seeing you had no issues, glad to report no issues on my end either! :)
Does your Media Composer "recognize" the Titan GPU on startup? I am confused as to what to buy for my MC 8.4 system. Should I go with a Titan X or Quadro K4200? I mainly use Avid but will be cutting a feature on Premiere so I'm trying to figure out what will be the best option...
Did you have to add the Titan into the QualifiedGPUBoards.txt document? Or did Avid recognize it automatically? The Titan is not listed as a qualified GPU for MC.
WHat do you guys think/ recommend?
Thanks!
Hello, I am new in avid community.
I had a nvidia quadro and a titan x with nvidia 353.30 and I had problems with resolve and media composer, now I have a gtx 980 and a titan x ..... I solved problems with davinci but remain those with Avid (the bin make a slight drag effect) I tried to update the drivere but the problem persists, does anyone know how to fix it? some setting in nvidia control panel? bios setting?
(Windows 10, Avid 8.5.1)
your problem sound like gpu resource sharing to me.
can happen between avid, adobe, office, browsers etc
that being said,
if i remember correctly, you can install independend drivers for different gpus.
in device manager you can right click a gpu and load a specific driver.
nvidia installer always updates all cards.
If I install the quadro drivers does not show me more Titan, I discovered that within Gtx driver is expected to be compatible with certain quadro cards, but the quadro drivers does not include any driver compatibility with gtx.
I can not install different drivers for the two separate cards, try to install windows 7 and see to install a driver earlier than those available for Windows 10. I will know the result.
However ... does anyone know the optimal settings of the bios (asus motherboard workstation z10pe-d16 ws) fore video editing, Avid media composer and Davinci resolve?
Thank you so much for the help ... I'm going crazy :)
(sorry for my English not very fair)
hmm
try this: install gtx driver.
then install quadro manually.
in device manager under display adapters right click the quadro.
select update driver software-> browse-> C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver
you probably have several to choose from by now, select the one indicated by cour current avid version.
windows 7 is currently more stable and compatible than 10, this might solve your problem.
you shouldn't have to change bios settings. if the benchmarks for the cards are normal, you should be fine.
