    Replacement Quadro 4000

    Hello,

My display card fried and I need to purchase a new Quadro 4000 card.  I can get the HP Branded one that matches what's in the Z800 now or a straight up Nvidia one for about a hundred bucks cheaper.  As far as i can tell, there is no difference spec wise.  Any reason to go with the HP Branded one?

    thanks very much.

    Re: Replacement Quadro 4000

I have the Quadro k4000 in my z800. It's faster, less power adm less heat than the Quadro 4000 - worth the price! Check ebay for some good prices.

Both Q4000 & K4000 are older models. My Q4000's fan is really loud. I will not replace it with another Q4000. Is Z800 motherboard PCIe2 or 3? IIRC, your choice is K4200 or smaller IFF PCIe2. GeForce and K5200 or bigger are all PCIe3.

    hope this helps,

    Thanks all.

I totally agree on buying a better card, Unfortunately i have to keep all these systems uniform otherwise certain folks might throw a union tantrum.  When I initially suggested it was the Display card i was scoffed at and now after dealing with this for about 2 months I just decided to get a card on my own and not bother with the beauracracy.

    No.

I saw a commercial yesterday(?). Don't recall product/service advertised. Second in "Stupid rich" series. Character says, "My father says, "Money doesn't spend itself."

Don't know about add in parts OTTOMH. Systems come with 3/3/3 waranties as part of price but they charge a lot more than street price for components. Check out the prices in Z system configurators. One prepays for waranty replacement.

I believe Quadros come with a very good warranty. I'd check with nVidia and see if they'll send you out a replacement.

    Good luck!
