Hello,
Upon upgrading my 7.03 ->>> 8.3.1 I was prompted with the following:
"An unsupported device of Avid Editor Transcoed has been detected. You must uninstall Avid Editor Transcode before this Setup can continue"
Which led me to search for a solution here on the forums. I then came upon this:
http://community.avid.com/forums/p/130574/747362.aspx#747362
Within, the person had the problem did a REPAIR on the "Avid Editor Transcoder"...I did an UNINSTALL, and then I could upgrade to 8.3.1.
However, now...the Matrox MX2 Mini that I have doesn't appear under the Hardware info.
Any suggestions on how to fix?
Thanks,
Irwin
*** UPDATE ***
I've recently visited Matrox's website, downloaded and install the following (supports MC 8.3):
Installs Matrox Mtx.utils version 7.7.2 (build 2018) for Windows. This release supports Adobe CC: 2014 release, Adobe CC and CS6, Avid editing applications, and Telestream Wirecast. For a complete list of supported applications, see the documentation for this release.
Note: This version of Mtx.utils installs software for your MXO2 product as well as the Matrox CompressHD card so that you can use your MXO2 hardware with CompressHD. If you want to use a Matrox Convert DVI product with MXO2 on the same system, you must install Matrox MtxConvert.utils instead of Mtx.utils (see the Combo Software download provided for your Convert DVI product).

Matrox Mtx.utils 7.7.2 provides the following new features for MXO2 products:
Note: This release of Matrox Mtx.utils installs software for your Matrox MXO2 product as well as the Matrox CompressHD card. You can therefore use your MXO2 hardware with CompressHD. If you want to use a Matrox Convert DVI product with MXO2 on the same system, you must install Matrox MtxConvert.utils instead of Matrox Mtx.utils. Matrox MtxConvert.utils is available in the “Downloads” section of the Matrox Support website under “Combo Software” for your Convert DVI product.

Now I get this "a serious error has occurred! It is recommended that you restart the application immediately"
There is a brief display of footage in both windows, then the message above. At least the Matrox MXO2 mini is recognized in the Hardware info...
...but now this problem :( Good Grief!! Help still wanted please
My Matrox mini only works with MC 8.3.1 at half resolution. Once I click full resolution or 10-bit on the TV icon, it crashes the Matrox mini too. the Matrox driver 772 are for MC 8.3 and below not for MC 8.3.1. We'll have to wait until matrox releases another driver for MC 8.3.1. If you don't need any of the the 8.3.1 updated, then revert back to MC 8.3, since Matrox 772 drivers work perfectly with MC 8.3.
Ah...that is enlightening!! I'm downloading 8.3 now!! Thank you. I'll post results after a downgrade.
8.3 didn't do it. Going to try a lower version.
however, there was some progress as i was able to play a few frames.

If your profile is correct, it says an AMD card for GPU, I believe that this is all you will get, you might want to switch GPU to an Avid certified one or remove the Matrox device.

*** SOLVED ***
I've uninstalled both Avid Media Composer & Matrox MTX Utilities. (After deactivating AMC license)
The next step is to install Avid Media Composer. I could only use version 8.3 (not 8.3.1) as the Matrox MTX Utilities version 7.7.2.2018 only supports up to AMC 8.3
After AMC is completed, you install Matrox MTX Utilities. At this point, my Matrox MXO2 Mini is shown in the Hardware Info window.
Lastly, I don't use the Matrox MXO2 Mini audio breakout. I experienced no audio on playblack, yet the meters show that there is something on the timeline. My normal setup is hear the audio through the soundcard output which connects to the speakers. To correct this, go to SETTINGS - AUDIO PROJECT - HARDWARE, on PERIPHERAL, "Matrox & Avid OHCI", click on the gear icon (options), then choose AUDIO OUTPUT, put a check mark on USE SYSTEM SOUNDCARD.
Done!

Hi, everything was working perfectly before with version 7.0.3. The Matrox MXO2 Mini is my break out box and because it has the MAX option, speeds up the export video process...it's a must have device.

You have it working with 8.31 and an AMD card , great , happy to be wrong .

I'm happy...after 6 hours of uninstalling, reinstalling, troubleshooting, and basically being not productive...now I can finally do some real work and make $$ :D
Oh...it's 8.3, not 8.3.1. Have to wait till Matrox updates their driver.
the download pages are not updated once we release our drivers for software versions supported in a given release. We update our testing on our user forum's here;

What you are looking for is here, for Avid 8.3.1 support;

Yes, our 7.7.2 release supports Avid MC 8.3.1
Oh, and when going from a Major to another Major release, i.e. Avid 7 to Avid 8, you must always uninstall Matrox drivers upgrade Avid, then install Matrox drivers.

Thank you Wayne.
So...to confirm, if I upgraded 8.3->>>8.3.1... i do not need to uninstall the Matrox drivers? I just have to deactivate my AMC license, uninstall AMC, then install AMC 8.3.1 and it'll be OK?
Deactivated 8.3, uninstalled Media Composer, then installed 8.3.1. IT WORKS!!! (I didn't have to mess with the Matrox Utilities)
