    Failed on install when upgrading from MC 5 to MC 8

    Hi all.

    Have just purchased the upgraded from MC 5.5.2 to MC 8.3.0

    I also had to update my Mac OS from Lion 10.7.5 to Yosemite 10.10.1 prior to install.

    I am running a 2011 27inch iMac with 3.4GHz Intel Core i7 with 8GB Ram.

    Prior to attempting to install MC8 I de-activated and uninstalled my current MC 5

    Problem arose at the very last step of the install....all going well and at the last minute an error came up.

    "The Installation failed. The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. contact the software manufacturer for assistance"

    I have contacted customer support via email and am waiting on their response but any ideas from anyone here in the Avid Community in the meantime  would be greatly appreciated.

    Have you tried running the 8.3 installer a second time?

    Another suggestion would be to make sure your Drive permissions are all set to Read and Write as the Yosemite install may have restricted some of these permissions.

    Have attempted the install 3 times....no luck.

    Haven't checked HD permissions. Will take a look at that.

    Permissions on HD are read and write....tried install again.

    Same fail message.

    Back to the drawing board!

    If it were me I would try uninstalling 8.3.
    Then install an 8.0 or 8.2. If either of those worked I would install 8.3 over the one that worked.

    My concern would be that you apparently updated the OS before uninstalling 5.5.

    If this is an issue I would either search the MC Mac forums here for how to completely uninstall Avid on a Mac. (A Mac Moderator there (Kevin Klimek) has posted how to several times). Or post a question in those forums on how to get a complete uninstall.

    I uninstalled 5.5 before doing the OS update. Updated the OS before installing 8.

    Also I have done a manual uninstall with no luck. Will see if I can find Kevin's posting on the uninstall to see if there is anything I have missed.
