I bought Avid 8 with the hope I could finally upgrade my OS to Maverick. Except, I learned MC 8 is qualified for 10.9.2 not 10.9.3 via the readme guide. Has anyone been working on 10.9.3 with MC 8?
Thanks!
I've been working with MC 7.0.4...which is essentially exactly the same as MC8...on 10.9.3 for a week now and no issues. It works...just not fully blessed yet.
The biggest apps that have issues with 10.9.3 are Adobe Premiere Pro and Resolve.
yep, same here. Only I'm on MC8. No issues with 10.9.3.
It might be worth noting that I updated 10.9.2 to 10.9.3 via the Apple update. After the update, MC was working very very slowly. After reading that the Apple update was causing problems for others, the fix was to download the full 10.9.3 update from the Apple store and re-install. That fixed everything. Not an issue with Avid, but, rather with the 10.9.3 update package.

Good to know. I'm about to be in between projects and would like to update then.
Hi, I've been working with MC8 on OS 10.9.3 for the past week. It has crashed 4 times. Make sure you save after every edit and set
the project autosave to 5 minutes to protect yourself.
Also, have been unable to get AMA-linking to WAV files to work. Straight import is OK. AMA-linked music track would stop
on playback with exception errors.
Could not get AMA-lnking to work with an Automatic Duck export of a sequence from FCP7 to AAF. Then, could
not get relink to work for the sequence. Had to export the FCP7 sequence as a QT file and was able to AMA-link to that and it works OK.
Also, the README file in the download has a dead link to the documentation. You're on your own there.
MC8 needs a lot of work. MC8.1 is supposed to come out in mid July. Let's hope they fix all these things.

Thanks for your reply Bruce. This is my window to make the upgrade. Would you still bet against doing so? I guess if I have some issues I can hope MC 8.1 comes out soon.
Ken
Too late. 10.9.3 is gone...10.9.4 came out yesterday.
lol... nice. This is becoming difficult. I guess my next hope is 8.1 is qualified for 10.9.4 and that I get an open window in there to upgrade.
Thanks,
You can always download the 10.9.3 Combo updater from Apple's website. They key is to have (or download) the base version of any OS so that you have a starting point.

That's the real trick, Kevin. Getting the base 10.9. Apple doesn't make it available. Therefore you can ONLY download the latest OS from them. No way to only go as far as 10.9.2 because that's what Avid 7.0.3 is blessed with. Nope...now you can't even go 10.9.3...only get 10.9.4.
It's like Apple doesn't care about third party software at all anymore.
Yes, this is true, but it's also why I have stressed every time (10.7, 10.8, and 10.9) that Avid users download but don't install the new OS when it's released so you have it.
And this one was free, so there was no reason not to do. I will strongly recommend the same when 10.10 comes out later this year.
Thanks Kevin... I'll look to do that when 10.10 is released.
Shane Ross: Too late. 10.9.3 is gone...10.9.4 came out yesterday.
Fine by me, 10.9.3 brought more trouble than fixes. 10.9.4 seems much better for us pros as it resolved quite a few gfx card issues.
