I also just did a quick install of 7.0.5 and PhraseFind did not work!
I have not called support yet but not a very good sign for those of us grasping to 7.0.4.4!
Tex
did you deactivate it first before upgrading?
email me the activation ID and I can reset it

Just is case you run into this after installing V7 and then attempting to activate Phrasefind
A Spy
BUG fix: PhraseFind “Select Language” greyed out after activating.
1) Go to your Avid project folder, find the SearchData folder and throw it in the trash.(_SearchDB_file is probably corrupt)
2) Empty the trash.
3) Open Avid MC.
4) Close Avid MC.
5) Go back to the project folder and “Get Info” on the newly created SearchData folder.
6) Change the permissions at the bottom of the “Get Info” page to read “Read & Write”.
7) Close the “Get Info” page.
8) Re-start Avid MC. If you have a large project, indexing for both Search and PhraseFind may take a while to re-build.
Alan
Thanks for you help, but no luck.
The "Select Language" button is Red not Grey.
I will call support.
I take it you have PhraseFind working under 7.0.5?
thanks for you help.
will get back to you if support is no help.
Johnny,
I switch back and forth between two machines with 8.4.2 for my editing, and 7.0.4 for ScriptSync/PhraseFind with no problem. I have not tried version 7.0.5 with ScriptSync. Perhaps give that a go?
Best, Alan
How do you accomplish that? Dual Boot?
Not on the same machine...on another workstation. One has 7.0.4 installed with ScriptSync, the other has 8.4.2
...so your computer with 7.0.4 can also access the media folder of your 8.4.2 computer?
Yes, on a Raid. I open the existing project in 7.0.4, sync all my scripts...and then reopen the project in 8.4.2.
All Good
Great work around - Hopefully we will see PhraseFind in the latest release... I still am holding out hope that the powers that be can make this STILL happen.
Agreed...ScriptSync still works with older versions of Avid.
Marianna is on our side...she's doing her best and she's a great ambassador and awesome customer service rep for Avid. It's Nexidia who makes the ScriptSync plug-in who needs to sit down with Avid and reach a mutual agreement that's beneficial for both parties which I hope they both realize. Their long partnership shouldn't fall by the wayside. I still believe having the plug-in embedded in the Avid app is the best way to go. I would not use an out-board stand-alone app by Nexidia....I've used "Get" for FCP, as well as Boris "Soundbite", but the workflow is not ideal to have to switch back and forth between apps. I'm keeping my finger crossed.
And if the Powers the Be dont come to a solution soon? How long has it been now? I wonder if there will be some kind of refund? I dropped a lot of cash on PhraseFind and got about a years worth of use from it. I have another doc coming up, and to me PhraseFind is necessary. This alone is causing me to think of using another NLE. UGH!
Glassy waves make me happy
I understand the frustration...but once you sync all the transcripts in 7.0.4, you can then re-install 8.4.2 and edit away....unless of course you need PhrasePind
Here is my quartly check in on the undying hope to once again have the resource of phraseFind.
Avid the question is as of Jan 2016
DEAL or NO-DEAL?
really hoping ....
