Wow.  Fine line.  At some point, don't you think Nexidia might say "Ok, that's it.  Lets go talk with Adobe and Apple and see what we can do there."?  

I know Avid dominates the market for what PF and SS is best for, so Nexidia needs Avid.  On the flip side, as seen in this thread, Avid certainly needs what Nexidia brings to the table to stay dominant.  Must be an interesting dance.

I wish there was more info on this.  I mean, no one's making any money like this.  It's like a year's worth of subscriptions or plugin purchases or whatever that could have happened and didn't.  I mean seriously, what kind of hardball are people playing? Just do the deal TAKE MY MONEY!!

I certainly understand where you're coming from.

however in this case it takes 2 companies to tango and right now the contract sit with nexidia. 

Developer peeps from avid are talking today - most likely to hear Nexidias counter.

Over 1 year ago, when this thread started, you can read that Dave Colantuoni from Avid had said:

"I am deeply involved in the negotiations, negotiations have been on-going for a long time with a lot of effort put in place to resolve, it’s never as easy as it seems, however.
Avid and our partner (and all partners) have to look out for their own business interests, but both realize the importance of ScriptSync and PhraseFind to our industry.
We released V8 to roll out new business models (Subscription, Floating, new support options).
This business models for subscription allow us to roll out regular updates.
Hopefully I can report good news sooner than later
In the future the MediaCentral platform will allow partners like Nexidia to use their technology new and innovative ways.  That’s in the future but not that far off."

Taking into account the speed at which new innovations in the world of computing and video editing are taking place - Avid's concept of "sooner than later" and "not that far off" are a little worrying.

Sometimes business models change or the companies themselves decide to do things differently.  do you have a crystal ball that most of us dont have?  Dave was commenting on his knowledge at that time.... but times change.

Nexidia has their new dialog search and I assume part of the challenge is figuring out a way to preserve that new product in the market and provide the past Avid peeps the Options that will work with v8.x and higher..... I also assume part of the delay is our change to Avid Everywhere and new products like the interplay and the cloud etc. which they most likely want to participate in.

The negotiations continue and I will keep the community in the loop as I hear news...

I hope that for those who really do need PhraseFind and ScriptSync that you come to a deal that pleases all some time really soon.
