Network toying with idea of digital delivery, so they are asking for an OP1a MXF in the XDCAM 50 codec, but with only 4 tracks of audio. Every export I do results in 8. I found this post:

But even switching to 24bit, I have 8 tracks of audio. How do I keep it to 4 only?
Thanks
You always get 8 channels of audio. That how XDCAM works. Digi Beta has 4 channels, XDCAM 8 channels.
Just don't use them if you don't want them.
Have you tried using AMA File export? Then choosing an appropriate AS-11 Shim?
Here (with MC 7.0.3) I have been exporting with a Avid PAL SD Shim and get 1 stereo track in my XDCAM 50 codec OP1a MXF file when exporting from a 1 stereo track timeline. (You can AMA link to the resultant file and confirm the tracks created) Here the file passed the networks QC.
When I looked at the Shims xml code the audio track line has options for 2, 4, or 8 audio tracks in the PAL SD one I was looking at (found on my PC C:\Program Files\Avid\Avid Media Composer\Supporting Files\AS-11)
FWIW it seems like you should be able to copy one of these, edit it and save it a different Shim for your own network requirements. I have asked Avid if they will supply more info on this
Hi
I'm updating my MXF export workflow and had a couple of questions.
Previously, in MC5.5, I used a fake XDCAM disk image to do an "output to XDCAM" which created the MXF file that I delivered. Worked well but slightly messy.
Since upgrading to MC7.0.4 (yes, still behind on the version...) I've tried the Export "MXF Op1A" option". This seems to work in HD, but SD exports don't have any audio.
I've also tried the AMA File Export which seems to work. But I can only get a 24-bit audio export, when our audio master is 16-bit. I've tried researching how to tweak the Shim XML but can't find very much specific info about doing this, and not anything about setting the audio bit-depth.
Andrew, do you or anyone else know how to do this?
Also, I've tried to AMA-link the exported .mxf file back into Avid to check it but it won't work, just get a message that I don't have the right AMA plugin. I have the XDCAM mxf plugin installed, and I thought the Op1A mxf plugin was installed automatically. Any ideas why this doesn't work or if there is an AMA plugin that I'm missing?
