Interesting to know if there's a current Avid line on AV protection (now we have online activation there should be advice on what products are supported). Not see any mention of this in some years.
Also what are folks using successfully?
We currently use Sophos as it has both Mac & PC installers and comes with central reporting and management.
But looking at moving to AVG.

AVG Anti virus business is my personal favorite choice in combination with Avid products. Been using it for 3 years and it hasn't caused any trouble in an interplay 2.6 setup while catching many viruses from usb devices.
But this was the 2011/2012 version. I can't tell about the latest version.
On MC MSE works well, especially taking into consideration it is free, but the lack of central management and lack of password protection so that users can't switch it off is often a reason for going with AVG.
For years I've been asking Avid so certify other solutions then Symantec but.... nothing.

Yes I like Microscoft Security Essentials and it integrates really well into the OS. But as you say not ideal without central management.
It's really useful as admin getting info on infected devices and web visits that are potentially harmful.
It allows me to "encourage" safe use of the systems.

I've been using AVG Business Edition on my non-Avid parition. It's a good piece of software but I thought it was too heavy for my Avid partition. With Avid, I use Microsoft Security Essentials which is very light on resources. I also use the free version Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. I use this in "on-demand" mode so if it's not being used, it doesn't use any resources. If you need password protection etc. then that's something else.A company I worked for many years ago used Symantec which had password protection. I went off Symantec a long time ago but this software seemed to work well and I never had any issues.

I'm using Nortan Anti-virus (only), and it doesn't seem to interfere with Avid at all. I used to use MSE, but it let something slip by a year ago, and I abandoned it.
I think the deal with MSE is to manually update it, quick scan every day, and to do a full scan once a week.
Using MC 23.3. Win 22H2 Avid FX6.4, Vegas Pro 20/ DVD Architect 6pro, DVDit6.4proHD, CCE Basic, TmpGe Express4, TmpGe Authoring Works 4, DVDLab-Studio. Sony EX-1R, Canon XH-A1, GL2, GL1, Canon EOS 60D
I use Avast and malewarebytes. Haven't had any issues.

Yes some still run sillo'd setups but stopping USB sticks CDs DVDs and drives from being connected infected is a real pain. Seen too many setups riddled with viruses they didn't eve know they had!
I use AVG Internet Security. And Malwarebytes. So far so good
I also use AVG Internet Security with no problems.
No problems with Norton Internet Security suite on my editing PC.
