    Source Sequences and Matchback Linked

I was speaking about this the other day with a few editors here in Los Angeles. It would be very helpful to those of us that work a lot with selects sequences if there was a capability to designate sequences for only the source window. The best thing I can think to call it is Selects Sequences or Source Sequences. You could imagine it working this way:

Sequences in a bin could be selected and converted to Selects Sequences from the clip menu.

This new designation could have it's own icon to indicate that a sequence was in fact a Selects Sequence. This would effectively prevent it from being loaded into the record-side timeline when the sequence is double clicked, instead it would automatically load into the source window. If the sequence need to be modified it could still be done so by deliberate dragging of the icon to the rec window.

Additionally, any clips within Selects Sequence would have a bit of metadata/media management attached to them so that when any clips that originated from the Selects Sequence are matched back within the record timeline they would first match back to the Selects Sequence they originated from BEFORE matching back further up the chain.

I think people would find this a really helpful tool, especially those of us that cut from selects sequences for line breakdowns, beauty, car etc.

    Very good idea.

Just an FYI, if you keep your "Source Sequence" in the source window, using Reverse Match Frame from the Record side will match to the appropriate clip in the Source Sequence, not the underlying clip.

Not quite as elegant as you propose but sure has helped me out a lot.

Now, if we can just have the Search tool search Markers, select sequences would really sing.

Not a real priority to me, but still that would be great:
