HD/SD yellow-coloured clips in timeline of AMA project?

    Hi,

I'm working with a project where all the clips are entirely AMA HD 1080p 25fps.  When I started editing, all the clips were the default green colour.  But then, at some point, I think I had to relink and many of the clips in the timeline turned to the HD/SD yellow shade clip colour.  I match framed both yellow and regular coloured clips to the bins and analysed their metadata to see if they were the same, which they were (and still ama linked).  Is this a bug that's causing random clips to turn yellow or could there potentially be a problem I'm over-looking?

Have you changed the project format? Using HD clips in an SD timeline will show them as yellow.

Thanks, Pat.  No I haven't changed the project format.

I think I figured out the difference.  Somehow, even though it's ama linked and was shot on the same camera, the yellow clips are in now in 601 color space, instead of 709.  I'm not sure how that happened.   I was unaware that AMA clips could become altered after the fact.    Also, I don't know if that will effect my consolidation to DNxHD 185 at the end.

So, this was the problem....somehow all the yellow clips got switched to 601 color space - I'm not sure how/why.  So, I had to relink to ama again and then all the color spaces switched back to 709.  Then all the yellow clip coloring disappeared from the timeline.

601 is SD 709 is HD.

You can't change the format of an AMA clip. It's either HD 709 or SD 601 as source. Avid can't change an AMA source file.

Good to know it can't change an AMA clip at all.  It must be some sort of bug then.
