AFE to LINKED QUICKTIME FILES issue. Why always rec709 levels input during AFE conform?

When linking directly to QUICKTIME files with in the DS, the quicktime files take their INPUT LEVELS information from the CAPTURE SETTINGS Input Levels dialogue box. So I can assign the Quicktime different input levels as I like (Legacy grfx for example).

However, when I link to quicktime files by way of AFE conform, the link defaults to input levels ITU 601/709. I am unable to get it to LEGACY GRFX this way. Also, once a file is linked, I am unable to change the clips to a different input level. Any way around this?

My only "workaround" is to add a source master effect to each clip (LUTS EFFECT.Preset) and set the input level to ITU 601/709 and the output level to LEGACY GRFX. This gets me back to as if I just imported it as legacy grfx. Would like not to do this if at all possible. Thanks!

So, when you are using an AFE conform, that implies that you have either AMA linked or done a classic import of a QT in MC.

My question is, what were the levels set for in either of those cases?  In the past (at least) what you did there was respected ( and not changeable) with an AFE.

Have you experimented with those settings?

In Media Composer, I have AMA linked. In my initial test, I left the source settings as is. I just tested changing source settings to graphics levels in Media Composer. Same thing happens in DS, ITU 601/709 levels on linking. I even tested changing the sequence LUT in DS prior to AFE import, and still only 601/709.

I'm running Avid Media Composer 6.5 and Avid DS 11.0.2

    I don't know.  I give it a try when I get a chance.
