Problem Deactivating MC6 - Licence control does not launch

I want to move my MC6 installation to a new computer.

Unfortunately I cannot deactivate MC6 on my old PC. AVID Licence Control is not launching.

This may be caused by a conflict with an AVID (now Pinnacle/Corel) Studio 16 instalation incompatibility.

Even uninstalling Studio does not help.

    What can I do?

    Hi Harold,

    HLinke:

Probably so.  See if this helps:

If not, you should call support (activation problems are free) or send an email to Marianna Montague (marianna.montague@avid.com), who can help you.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi Harold,

What did you do, this one ?:

Rename the Pixie folder at C:\ProgramData\Pinnacle\Pixie to xPixie

Because after installing Pinnacle Studio 16 i have also the same problem (again)

Rename Pixie to xPiexie did not work for me

Re: Problem Deactivating MC6 - Licence control does not launch

    Hi Henk,

    I did following:

On the original PC where I was not able to deactivate MC:

The problem was caused because I had installe AVID Studio some time ago.

    I checked the directory

    C:\ProgramData\Pinnacle\

there were two directory in this folder: Pixie and MC_Pixie

I must have had this prbolem already some time ago when installing AVID Studio and as described in the AVID Studio FAQ I had renamed the Pxie folder created by MC, to MC_pixie. After this I could install AVID Studio and AVID Studio created a new folder pixie with its data.

Interesting is that MC still worked in this configuration without a problem.

When I now wanted to deactivate MC I had totally forgotten what I did some time ago. Carl´s hint remineded me.

On the new PC where I wanted to install MC after I had installed AVID Studio 2 (Now Pinnacle Studio 16)

I renamed the pixie folder to pixie_studio. Then I could install MC and activate it.

MC created a new pixie folder.

Now I have renamed this folder to pixie_mc and renamed the pixie-Studio folder to pixie.

MC still work without a problem and AVID Studio is happy too.

    Harold
