    Capture problems "Incompatible format"

In the past i had no problem capering from my Canon XH A1, but i build up my system again (installed everything again) Have MC 6.0.3.2 installed now, but:

Try to start a new project but in the capture tool i get the message "Incompatible Format"and the V is gray.

Have i missed something, a setting or something else ?

I can see and control the Canon but thats all i can do.

Also the tab Video say's : None

Did a search on the forum and see the problem, but that was with version 3.5, so it must be solved by now.

Can anybody help me...thanks in advance

    Henk

Check the record format. When a new project is set to DVCProHD format and not HDV.

    Re: Capture problems "Incompatible format"

In Res is on my screen only Incompatible format and the pull down menu is only showing that,

so nothing else selectable, and video is showing "no Video" , so no Host1394, maybe that is the problem ?

I have also Pinnacle Studio on my system and captering is no problem, so the 1394 port is function well

    Re: Capture problems "Incompatible format"

Henk, either the project settings do not much the camera/deck output as for frame rate and size, or MC doesn't like the firewire controller, if this is a new computer; You may also try to switch the firewire driver to legacy.

    Re: Capture problems "Incompatible format"

    Luca,

Same computer, but installed Windows again and after that MC.

Fire wire = IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controller ...Texas Instruments 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller.

Can that be the problem ?

    Re: Capture problems "Incompatible format"

Were You on MC 6.0.3.2 back at the time when the system was working fine? As of MC 5 the Texas Instruments firewire chipset is not supported anymore, at least for use with the Adrenaline and old analog/SDI Mojos, I don't know if the same applies to straight capture off the firewire port, but if this very same system properly ran the same MC version it has to work after reinstalling everything; if You're running the default Windows 7 firewire driver You'll have to switch to the legacy firewire driver: right click on My computer, select Manage, click Device (or device manager, not in front of a PC and going by memory), pick the firewire controller, right click and choose properties, select the driver tab, update driver, manual update from a list of supported stuff (or similiar), switch to the legacy driver and see if this helps.

    Re: Capture problems "Incompatible format"

Before (version 6.0) the system was working fine.

Installed another (older) driver with the same result.

looking for another driver on the internet gives always the Texas driver.

    Re: Capture problems "Incompatible format"

Henk, if the system worked before it has to work, the "Incompatible format" error message seems pretty clear, please make sure that the project settings and the output format of Your camera/deck match as for frame rate and size. Do You have multiple deck configurations by any chance?

    Re: Capture problems "Incompatible format"

Till now no results, but the fact that MC is controlling my camera does this not mean that fire wire is working ?

Because i have to go on i capture the tape using Studio, but the resulting file will not be accepted by MC, so i make a AVCHD (H264) output in Studio and import this file in MC. The other files i need in this project are avchd files from another camera, so i can go on now but this was not the intension when decided to clean my system and install the newest version of MC.

UPDATE: I imported the H264 file but  when try to import the only available Vidoe Resolution in the pull down menu are DNxHD 444 365X MXF and 1:1 10b RGB MXF.  For me total strange, also the imported video is playing stuttering, so there is something wrong with my project settings ? Anybody knows this ?

If anybody gets a brainwave about this item...please let me know.

    have a good weekend,

    Henk

I have a project that is set to RGB. Switch to a different color space. It's in the project tab used to define the details of the project. (1080i50 etc. ..)

    Re: Capture problems "Incompatible format"

Arguably, the color space is related to the original problem.
