We've upgraded to v.11.2 (from v.8) and up to now have only needed to access files - but now we need to capture from tape (Panasonic HD 1080i) and have just discovered there is no Capture Tool. Is there something wrong with our system, or are we missing something. In the Media I/O there is Output Tool, Capture Settings, and the Recapture choices, but no Capture Tool. Thanks very much!
Make sure that you did not launch Avid DS in (graphics link) or (software) mode because both are software-only and do not provide the full Media I/O options.
If you did start Avid DS, then open the top menu bar under Vierws > Default Toolbars > Capture. You can also discard your user's preferences and DS will rebuild from its default, bringing back this missing tool.
Note: There is a known small flaw that removes the Capture Tool if you start DS in software mode. Engineering will fix this problem in an update release.

Thanks! Yes, we were in the non-Graphics Link, non-software version. But as you suggested, we were able to access through the Views>Default Toolbars>Capture.
