is there a limit to the number of folders you can have in the Avid MediaFiles folder (Avid MediaFiles/MXF/1, 2, 3 etc.)? Is it "harder" for the indexer to have a lot of folders? Thanks!
No limit that we know of. What we do know is that Avid can handle many folders, just not large ones, hence the automatic cap at approx 5,000 files/folder.

That's great - thanks very much! We're trying to keep this big project organized, so this is good.
The only "limit", so the speak, is that you can only have one "Avid MediaFiles" folder per media drive.

Thanks, yes, this is how I understand it. We are running DS and Media Composer, but I wanted to make sure we weren't "taxing" the indexers by having a lot of folders. Thanks again!
