    effects added to sub master

I have 3 elements, photo, background, and a frame made in titles, collapsed into a sub master.  I now need to move that submaster video around the screen.  If I add an effect, it moves the sub master, v2, and the image in the track below, v1.  To avoid this, I opened up the submaster and effected each element.  Is there a way to just effect the subclip?  I tried video mixdown, but I lose the ability to key.

What I do in many of these situations, is have your 3 elements on V2, V3 and V4.

Put a single colour on V1 (the colour will be used to make a key with Spectramatte, so you need to have a colour that you don't have in your 3 elements). (You can easily make that colour in the title tool)

Collapse those 4 tracks together, apply Spectramatte onto the collapsed track, promote Spectramatte to 3D, then you can move that around at will.
