Hi Peleg,
What version of what Avid product are you using? What are the system specifications of the computer you're using? (Look at the bottom of my post for an example of the information we need.)
ciao,Carl

I don't know your camera but sounds like it's setup for DV output based on what you've told us here ("can capture DV but not HDV, etc"). If Avid can't detect a HDV signal but can detect a DV signal it only makes sense to me. Poke around in the menu.
Forum etiquette rule #1: FILL OUT SYSTEM SPECS IN PROFILE! :)
I had the same problem before with SONY HVR 15U
This is a problem in the computer itself!
Maybe this will help you:
There is a problem when I connect a 1394 device software tries to install itself again!
This problem is not with the way in DV, but there could be some problem with the Firewire ...
I doubt it. You said you get deck control plus... can capture DV. Doesn't seem like anything computer related to me. Did you try looking in the menu like I asked before?
*It's the same firewire driver, it's only the signal that's different.
What are the project settings you are using to capture the HD?
HD 1080I
1440 1080
By the way .. My laptop which has windows-7 everything works and you can sample HDV
It might be worth setting-up a 720p project and try capturing from there
Az Kola: It might be worth setting-up a 720p project
It might be worth setting-up a 720p project
But it is HDV ....

I think there's no point.
Because the other computer, everything works with the same camera ..
peleg:I have a Sony HVR-V1E and I can't capture. I have tried all the firewire drivers and codec settings for HD. I can control the devices, but nothing appears in the preview screen.(ilnk is off ) I can capture DV footage without a problem. MC 5.03 32 BIT win xp 32 bit intel coer 2 duo E6660 NVIDIA GEFORCE 7600 GT
If you can control the device, the OHCI-driver is o.k. It could be the wrong setting within "Capture". Make sure you have selected the correct Sony camcorder as device.
In addition, please check the sttings in the capture tool for video coding. By default it is set to DVCPro-HD and not to HDV. Make sure it is set to HDV.

Thanks for the idea, unfortunately it does not work!
Is the output from the cam set to HD - HDV and not automatic, auto will not work well if you have that one set.
the output on hdv all time
ok, try this... search the net for HDV Split. Download and install. If your camera is recognized and can capture with that program then we know there's most likely something with MC that's giving you issues.
If the capture is ok, you can fast import those clips into MC provided you have your import settings to HDV.
