Hi there,
I am editing a sequence online on windows 7 in MC 6.0.1 and tried to export it using AAF. It has quite a few effects and is in 720/25p. Duration is 20 mins, the file size exceeds 2Gb and I checked the box "AAF edit protocol". I wanted to export it with embedded AAF and also tried to transcode the sequence first. However, it always shows the same error: "exception: pipes can' t produce tail alignment". I looked through the sequence to check for sync breaks but found nothing. Does anyone have an idea? I' d much appreciate it!
Thanks for any help!

I'm having the same problem. Were you able to find a solution?
I'm also having the exact same problem. I can't figure it out. :(
Same error on Symphony 6.0.1.1, trying to export a 1080p 29.97 sequence with some footage, effects and title tool stuff.
Just took out all titles, and removed effects from clips. Exported without a hitch. I'd try to simplify your sequences if you're still having issues.

Anything new related to this? This makes it quite impossible for us to export through AAF.
To add: Getting same issue on MediaComposer 6.0.1, Symphony 6.0.1 and Symphony 6.0.1.1..
Adding: Getting same on 6.0.3.
I've run into this a few times, without figuring out the problem. Very cryptic error, but I think I have the cure.
Today the project was 1080p, and my AAF export gave the error " pipes can' t produce tail alignment ". I'm on Media Composer 6.5 on Win7. It occured even after I used "clear all renders in/out".
I first exported individual layers, to isolate the layer with issues. After isolating the layer with a problem, I used "Set Bin Display" to look at all of the individual bits of media, and their respective formats.
I dicovered that I had mixed 1080i and 1080p graphic imports in two layers. A bit sloppy of me, but easy enough to do. 1080p imported as 1080i looks just the same, etither way, if you are expecting 1080p.
I then batch reimported the graphic source media, with "Use Current Import Settings" turned on, to get one unified format for the graphics.
Should be home free? Hmm... still no go...
I then had to rebuild all Title Tool graphics, by modifiying them on the timeline slightly, then deleting the modifcations, and then saving them out.
Voila! Exports just fine now.
Hope this helps... Ron Inglis
