    Real multi-core please

When I export, import, make render etc... Avid 6 on a Mac only use ONE core, and no more than 2Gb RAM at most. The Mac Pro has 12core and 24Gb of RAM and does the work as far as a PC with low specification. That's crazy.

I think nowadays it's necesary real multicore process; multi-render sequences (render more than one sequence at a time); and a render/export queue. If all of these can do in background would be great.

I know there are different software like Sorenson, but I think it's better if MC can do it alone. Now MC can export several sequences at a time, but all of them must have the same settings. A render queue like After Effects would be great; because sometime I need to do differents compression formats for the same sequence.

It's been asked for before (I know I asked) hopes are it will be implemented in the future.

One of the issues with Importing and Exporting is it runs through the Quicktime Engine, which is only single core aware.

for maximum effectivness, please put the same feature request up on Apple's site.

But Quicktime will be killed off soon so it makes far more sense to find a better solution.

Even Quicktime X as shipped on new Macs shows how it's slowly being eroded...

Quicktime has no 64bit version and likely never will so it's future value is low..

    Re: Real multi-core please

Sorry but at the PC side I can see all cores of my 2600K running up at full speed when

    for example are rendering Looks.

So it depends on other things too.

Even at the QT export all cores are working.

    Lower but they are working.

The same on my laptop's i5.

    MC 6.0.1 USES ALL CORES.

    Re: Real multi-core please

Ok I'll try 6.0.1 on mac as soon as possible, then I report here the results.

It's great see multicore. Now, a render queue will be awesome; don't you think so?

Of course but MC6 is a big step ahead as far as previous MC@32bits.

It will go better as Avid didn't make this change for nothing.

    MC 6.0.1 USES ALL CORES.

MC 6 uses a varying number of cores depending on what it is doing.

Obviously at certain moments it is single-threaded, while for other tasks the load is better spread.

I'm observing my Windows task manager quite often as well (and the better Resource Monitor also) Wink

    Benoit,

I have never seen MC6 (as I am observing it too) to load only one core.

Not on my systems at least.

I am monitoring it mostly with CoreTemp
