Any chance we can upto date relase notes including user operation notes and layout sheets?
Have some students interested but the online info only covers using the panel with FCP Color....

Instructions from Documentation group:
Open the Symphony Editing Guide PDF from the following location: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/user_guide/en426511?popup=true&NewLang=en&DocType=1082 Go to chapter 20 or just click on the Using Avid Artist Series Controllers on the TOC on the left of that PDF. You can also open the help that is in the application, click the Search tab of the help and enter “Using Avid Artist Series Controllers”

Let me know if that's helpful for everyone. We are also trying to get this information available on the knowledge base, and eventually in the docs that come with the Artist control surfaces.
Thnaks That's great. Any chance that section can be made as a PDF and added to the actual control surface section of the Avid website as I'm sure that's where folks will look.

Working that next...
Dhansel: We have an upcoming maintenance release, the very next one to go out the door, and it should have the ability to modify the subtabs with the surface. However, I don't think the XML got done for "shift F2", so you'll have to go into it manually for now When you say? Very, very soon.

Very, very soon.
Sorry to be a Nudnik, but "very. very soon" is less than a month in my book.
What's going on?
The panels are very pretty, but of no use yet.

I think Doug was referring to 6.0.3.1, which was indeed released within a month after his reply.
Hi Folks,
It was in 6.0.3, but parts of it got pulled out at the last minute becuase of a bug. I'm modifying the subtabs with the surface it in 6.5 right now and it's working. When you are on "controls" in Symphony, if you hit Shift-F2, you will cycle to the next subtab (Mast, high, mid, shad) You have to press Shift-F2 repeatedly. I had wanted you to be able to hold shift down and do this by simply touching F2 repeatedly, but that's not working quite right yet. Currently, you have to repeat the shift press as well.
The good news is that it's there now! and hopefully is also merged back to 6.0.3.1 although since I'm not running that, maybe someone else can comment?
Isn't 6.0.3 a Mac only patch?
Any chance we can get this to finally work without paying 500$?
gilboa.amit: Isn't 6.0.3 a Mac only patch? Any chance we can get this to finally work without paying 500$?
No. 6.0.3 is for both Mac and PC. There is a 6.0.3.1 that might be Mac only(PC will be out soon), but that build has nothing to do with the features in this discussion.
Sorry, I meant to write 6.0.3.1,
as you wrote before the shift+f2 toggling was pulled out of 6.0.3,
and brought back in 6.0.3.1, I was wondering if we could have a PC version with more than just basic primaries done with the surface.
I do apreciate your sharing and attempts to make things better through a dialogue with users, but I am so frustrated by Avid, being a monogamist Avid user for almost a decade, as I feel it no longer gives me the tools to complete the job as well as my competitors using Davinci or scratch.

Since there has been no post here for over a year, is there a forum for this product anywhere?
Also, can you subscribe anywhere to get notification of software updates?
Did this ever get solved in Symphony 6? I am hooking up my Artist Color and have loaded the latest drivers.

I have read through all these posts with great interest. Just spent 2 months grading in Symphony using the panel and it was frustrating but my only solution to stay in Symphony.
One thing that keeps popping up is the fact that we are out of function keys to add features... Then would a new dedicated Avid keyboard not solve a lot of our problems? Looking at some of the available gaming keyboards off the shelve, they have tones of programable buttons to play with, why can you not make a dedicated Avid keyboard that will both enhance the normal editing functions and add programibility to attached surfaces. This could be easier than trying to keep moving functions around a standard keyboard. A "mode" slider or button can aeasily switch the whole keyboard to a new environment.
Just a thought!
Experience cannot be taught or learnt!
Not in 6 and now not resolved in 7.
Works Ok with Baselite plug-in, but that is not much consolation...
