Oops, my mac is running 10.7.2...not 10.6.2...
Was this a clean Lion install or upgrade from SL? First time Avid was installed on this computer? There is an order to installing MC and PTs, BTW. Check the MC 6 readme for "Co-Install." Perhaps you did them in the wrong order. It's possible there are audio files that one program needs to overwrite that the other installs to get both to function normally.

I have no idea whether Logic would screw up the install or not.
I would suggest trying a clean system or uninstalling Logic and see if that is causing the issue.
rustyd100 I have the same problem as yours..have you solved the problem?
I have an 8 core intel xeon on 10.7.2
..pro tools 9 was installed before..
Mine Crashes too.
I purchased Trial, installed clean on 10.7.2

If you find the fix post please. or a link to a AVID patch!

Dammit. Count me in aswell. Left Avid 6.01 on friday. Worked like a charme. Wanted to start editing now. Crashes on startup displaying: "initializing audio effect mode window"
What´s going on? Help!
Honestly I hate editing.
Found the problem. Got a "bad" Pro Tools Plugin by IK Multimedia (T-Racks Deluxe). Just delete the tracks .dtm plugin files in /library/application support/digidesign/Plug-ins/
Hope that helps.
Good luck.
André.
(By the way T-Racks is on sale right now and really kicks ass, anyway!)
By your crash, thread 0 shows the problem.
1. do this.
Open your Macintosh HD (boot drive)
open Applications
\applications\Library\Application Support\Digidesign\
Move that folder to your desktop do not delete!
Then you will boot.
Now the hard part Create a empty folder
here \applications\Library\Application Support\ (DIGIDESIGN)
Just copy the name of the one you moved to desk top.
Adjust your windows so you can open the Digidesign folder you MOVED out of "Application Support"
and see the NEW EMPTY Digidesign folder you created in its place.
Now drag and drop your RTAS .dpm Plugins from the Desktop DigiDesign folder into your "Application Support" new EMPTY Digidesign folder on at a time or just a chunk of them at a time. them try to launch Media Composer. Keep adding them back in and relaunching Media composer until you find the RTAS plugin hanging AVID's code.
This error is because of bad sub routine in AVID's code and the way it handles "Dirty" Plugins. As they are used to Protools who uses that RTAS. They are working on a patch and it will be out by April I believe.
What ever you do...don't say anything bad about AVID or Media Composer on "Tell us your experience" Forum. All the kids come out and call you names and "Trolls" and make sure your email is not public. As they bombard you with hate mail. Sorta like a cult of non schooled bullies of some kind.
Yo will not find answers from most there as they did not even get a degree of any kind, nor program anything other then posts.
The crash is an easy fix. "Dirty" Plugins in your \Application\Library\Application Support\Digidesign Folder.
Thus you see in your line "Sound Window int" crashes.
Once you get it going. the next step is to set your third party Sound card like MOTU, etc in "Preferences"
and set up your drives other than boot where you want to store your projects.
Good luck!
Kind Regards,
SJG PhD

First I would upgrade to 6.0.1 as there are 124+ fixes.
Second, I would make sure that the co-install rules were followed. General Co-Installation Notes are:
• Install Pro Tools first and then Media Composer - making sure that your PT and MC versions are compatible.
• You must uninstall all older versions of Media Composer or Pro Tools before installing newer versions.
• When you uninstall Pro Tools, choose to uninstall just the application and not the audio drivers or the editing application no longer sees the devices. On a Macintosh Pro Toolssystem, this is named the “Safe Uninstall.” On a Windows Pro Tools system, you must select the first uninstall option — “Pro Tools Only” — which is not selected by default.
• (Macintosh only) When you uninstall your Avid editing application, you must uninstall just the application and not the audio drivers or Pro Tools no longer sees the devices. When you start the Avid Uninstaller, deselect the options to uninstall AvidCoreRuntime.pkg and AvidDIORuntime.pkg.
and............. Co-install does not support both applications launched simultaneously.
Lastly, did this ever work? If so what changed?

I dont know who you communicated with at Avid so I can't comment on what they did or did not tell you regarding plug in's. I did check with the CEO's office and they havent received an email from you so it would help if I knew who you were communicating with.
As far as I know......... and I am somewhat close to the CET team who does our continuation engineetring, there isnt a "big bug" relating to plug ins. Most often the issues are with specific ones installed or corrupted during install or a updated versus a clean OS install.
When you registered your product you should have received an email from Avid and on that email is a service access code to use to call in and get troubleshooting help. I sugegst you call in and #'s can be found here depending on your region:
http://community.avid.com/forums/t/99212.aspx
If you cant find your code, ping me and I can assist you via email.

Yes, found the solution above...move Digidesign folder out of Application Support, create new Digidesign folder, move contents of original to new folder. I also deleted a folder inside called "unused plug-ins"
Steve_Jobs_Ghost:This error is because of bad sub routine in AVID's code and the way it handles "Dirty" Plugins. As they are used to Protools who uses that RTAS. They are working on a patch and it will be out by April I believe.
Has this issue been fixed? For me, running MC 7.0.3 on OSX 10.9.1, with the latest version of IK Multimedia TRacks I still get a crash on launch.
I can of course, do as suggested above, and remove the offending plugins from the DigiDesign folder...which I have done and it does solve the problem. But that is a workaround, and I am anticipating getting a version of ProTools in the next month...and I would like to have those plugins available in ProTools...and not have to remove them from the DigiDesign folder eveytime I need to edit (a daily thing when I have a project).
