AMA or Relinking for DSLR footage

    Hi,

This may of been covered before but I cant find a definitive answer.

Best Work Flow for DSLR footage when the system isn't fast enough to edit with the Native h.264's.

For speed I have been ingesting at DNxHD36.  Is there then a way of relinking to the original h.264 files for export or a way of re-transcoding to 185x? (does this actually benefit 4:2:0 8bit rushes anyway?)

Recently I used AMA then transcoded to DNxHD36 then exported same as source. Compared to the original h.264 files there was definately added noise.

Also the whole RBG thing, I have been importing at RGB as thats what DSLR's record in.  SHould I be ingesting at 709? and clipping the colour scale 16-235? What would be the benfits if any?  And If i come in at RGB I should export at RGB right?

Any help with these matters would be appreciated vey much.

    Best

    Regards

    Steven

Right-click on the imported DNxHD 36 files and click Batch Import. That will allow ou to reimport the exact same files in any resolution. For sequences, right-click and Batch Import or Decompose and then batch import the new master clips.

    Hi,

Best Work Flow for DSLR footage when the system isn't fast enough to edit with the Native h.264's.

Link by AMA and then transcode to DNxHD 120(Pal) or 145(NTSC).

For speed I have been ingesting at DNxHD36.  Is there then a way of relinking to the original h.264 files for export or a way of re-transcoding to 185x? (does this actually benefit 4:2:0 8bit rushes anyway?)

As the friend told you Batch import them to the new resolution (if you stuck tell us to help you).

Recently I used AMA then transcoded to DNxHD36 then exported same as source. Compared to the original h.264 files there was definately added noise.

I work like that and didn't see any noise (QT Player is the worse case of juding the quality).

Also the whole RBG thing, I have been importing at RGB as thats what DSLR's record in.  SHould I be ingesting at 709? and clipping the colour scale 16-235? What would be the benfits if any?  And If i come in at RGB I should export at RGB right?

I use 709 but many times I export as RGB (when it's for the web).

Any help with these matters would be appreciated vey much.
