AVID ISIS 5000 and FINAL CUT PRO

    Hi !

Does anyone have some experience with Finalcut pro & ISIS 5000 ?

I'm having some problems with xdcam transfer when importing directly onto ISIS 5000. The quicktime files are corrupted (sound or picture freeze...)

I'm also having issues with PSD files on ISIS, when I import files into Finalcut pro, they are seen as normal image file instead of sequences (with separate layers). When I try that same PSD file from my desktop, I then see all of the layers in Finalcut pro.

Has anybody already experienced this problem?

    Thanks !!

    We use it.

And the issues you are having are normal, unfortunately. Hoping it is fixed in the next version.

The XDCAM issue you are having will trigger every time you have an external drive with media being processed by an OS X application and resulting file sent to ISIS. The eventual files have a high chance of being corrupted, especially large files.

If you copy the media off the external drive first to either the internal or ISIS itself, then the process is fine. Unity had a similar issue around OS X 10.6.3 that was kind of resolved.

No workaround of the PSD files AFAIK.

Thanks a lot for your message.

For the moment, I proceed like that : I import all my XDCAM files onto internal disk, then, I send onto ISIS...

but for PSD files, it's like you say, no workaround...

I hope it is fixed in the next version of ISISClient manager or ISIS System.

In Isis documentation's, it is written :

"Tested and qualified for Final Cut Pro editing workgroups, or mixed Avid/FCP editorial workgroups"

I hope that an issue will appear as soon as possible...

we were having that issue with XDCam Transfer to ISIS.  So, I got rid of XDCam Transfer and use the FCP plugin for XDCam files instead.  That works no problem.

Your FCP plugin works only for XDCam EX footage ? Not for XDCAM SD or HD ?

The only way for importing XDCAM ProDisc is XDCAM Transfer, I'm right?

    Thanks !

    Benoit et al...

Has anyone called in and spoken with suport so this gets logged as a case and tracked?   If there are issues I want to make sure that support and engineering know.

I have good news. I installed the new version of ISIS Client Manager on OS Lion 10.7.2. I tested import XDCAM from XDCAM Transfer 2.13, and all it works !

Now, I will test it for one week, and after, if it works well, I will install all my system with Lion 10.7.2.

Just one things, the importation of PSD Files still doesn't work...

    to be continued
