I reciently installed an update for Avid Application Manager to 17.5.0 and now I get a system error message: The program can't start vecause MSVCR120.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem. Once I click OK I get another error message that says Quicktime is not installed on this system. Everything was working fine before the update. I'm running MC 8.8.3 on Windows 7 pro 64.
MSVCR120.dll is part of Microsoft Visual Studio which should be installed if needed by a particular application. However, I don't think Quicktime is required for Application Manager, so this additional error is a little strange.
I would take a look at the list of installed programs (Control Panel - Programs and Features) and see if it lists Visual Studio 2013 and Quicktime as having been installed. If they are, it would indicate that something is causing certain critical components of these programs to be erased or corrupted.
Once you start getting random error messages like this, it may be an indication of a failing hard drive, rather than an install error. I would back up your hard disk as soon as you can and try running a few disk checks. If these tests reveal bad blocks, I would seriously suggest replacing it, even if Windows reports that the all the errors were corrected.
